Fuerteventura Golf Club is situated in Caleta just 5 minutes drive from our house. It is 8 kilometres from the airport and 11 kilometres from the capital city of Puerto del Rosario. At over 1,500,000 square metres and just 200 metres from the ocean, playing golf in Fuerteventura affords superb views over the Atlantic Ocean. With palm trees and lakes, it is a much sought-after destination for both amateurs and professional alike for most relaxing Fuerteventura golf holidays.
It is a course designed for all levels of players, with three lakes and many other natural hazards. Only holes 17 and 18 have any noticeable incline. From holes 1 and 10, alongside the clubhouse, the holes wind towards the ocean and then return until holes 9 and 18, which finish at the Clubhouse. During this trajectory, they pass three large lakes connected by a small stream. Other obstacles include nearly 70 bunkers and a dry riverbed. It is a classic course of par 70 with 12 par fours, 2 par fives and 4 par threes with a maximum length of 6,079 metres.
Facilities include a driving range, practise putting green and chipping green. They offer buggy hire, trolley hire, electric trolley hire, club hire and Callaway club hire for those who arrive without their own equipment. There are changing rooms with showers, lockers and bars and restaurants where golfers retire to after their game.
If you are an absolute beginner, learning golf in Fuerteventura could make for a memorable holiday. Classes take place seven days a week, with one to one, or collective tuition. The practice range has more than 40 bays and the practice putting green is over 800 square metres. Alongside this is a smaller green for bunker and chip shots. All staff are multilingual.
Golf in Fuerteventura has been boosted by the opening of a further 18-hole golf course, next door to Fuerteventura Golf Club. This provides golfers another challenge and an option of courses to play.
